Window Shopping In Paris & Milan, Part III

Part 3: Colour Alert! Beige & Coral

Sun-soaked sandy dunes and objects found on the beach evoked a new colour direction for spring at the same time in Paris and in Milan, a welcome change from an all-white statement of previous seasons.

Fashions set the pace with feminine longer skirts and pretty blouses in off-white and beiges ranging from sand to biscuit, from eggshell to vanilla. The accent colours were often pale angel skin coral or an even darker shade of deep-sea coral. Handbags and shoes were the major colour accent contributors. Patent leather and subtle snake prints added refreshing surface interest to ballerina flats and dress sandals.

Tailored sportswear was also a beneficiary of the switching gear into neutral trend. Simple penny loafers in shiny patent leather added perfect footnotes in Paris.

Flirtatious little summer dresses made an appearance in shop windows in both cities, an indication that dress shoes will indeed be needed.  Early footwear examples to complement this extreme feminine look included traditional high heel, pointed toe, sexy pumps and closed toe ankle wrap sandals on a substantial high heel. Note the broader, slightly squared off toe character on the latter….a trend to watch!
