WATCHES GO MAD FOR PLAID

Traditional Brit-style checks and plaids never seem to go out of fashion. They always seem to be there, classic, demure and somewhat in the background. Not so going forward! Plaid-clad fashionistas have been spotted everywhere this season, in London, Stockholm, Paris and New York. And judging by the fall/winter 2017/18 designer collections we can expect to see everyone and everything going mad for plaid next fall.

Shoes, bags and scarves will jump on the plaid bandwagon, but plaid watchbands are a bit more unusual. No longer.  Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot has teamed up with Italia Independent turning their Classic Fusion model into trend-right checks and plaid versions. They will be introduced at Baselworld, the annual international trade fair for watches and fine jewelry taking place in Basel in March.

Traditional black and white hounds tooth checks are a new again look for fall overcoats. Next season there will be a watch to match

Prince of Wales checks expand their use from strictly man-tailored to a new, soft, feminine suit silhouette with longer hemlines. Again, there will be a watch in the same mood
