DESIGNER COLLECTION ANALYSIS: FALL/WINTER 2017/18 PARIS

No.2: Materials & Treatments

Daytime casual and tailored looks dominated on Paris runways, and the materials reflected the mood with leather, shearling and fur, the latter faux and real. Knit dressing was an important category, often with added patches and beads. Puffer jackets got a refresh in new colours and quilting patterns. Velvet evolved from an evening material into daytime. Metallic fabrics went beyond gold and silver tones and expanded into coloured metallic fabrics. These were often used for tailored daytime suits as well. Sheer see-through looks also crossed over from night into day.
